Prepare for your Puppy’s Arrival

Shop for Puppy Essentials
Before the big day, shop for all the things your puppy will need such as food and water bowls (stainless steel or ceramic is recommended), soft bed, crate, chew toys, leash, and harness or collar that doesn’t put pressure on your toy poodle’s sensitive thyroid. You will also need to purchase grooming tools. Eye wipes are recommended to clean any tear stains. A slicker brush with coated tips is suggested to use for brushing your toy poodle’s coat. Brush your puppy’s coat daily to prevent matting.
Puppy-proof your home
Put all electrical cords, cleaning detergents, prescription drugs, poisonous plants, and other loose items out of reach or your puppy might eat or chew on them. Baby gates are a good way to prevent access to off-limits areas of the house, such as staircases.
Create a Schedule
Having a routine is crucial to successful puppy-raising. Regular feeding and potty schedule are a must. The more consistent you are with the schedule, the faster your puppy will get settled. It’s important for everyone to be on the same page if there’s more than one human in the household.
